Expressive Arts Therapy (ExAT) is an inter-modal therapeutic method that puts creativity at the centre of the human experience and at the centre of a human's ability to work towards a different way of being. In working Inter-modally, I offer visual arts, movement, voice, writing, music, and even drama as therapeutic tools we can work with. I also have additional training that supports my use of tools from Narrative Therapy, Relational Cultural Theory and Internal Family Systems.

As an Expressive Arts Therapist, I work within a psychotherapeutic framework as well as with the philosophical principles of Poiesis - "the activity in which a person brings something into being that did not exist before" (Levine, 2011)

I work within a trauma informed framework and continue to unlearn and learn in order to offer a therapeutic setting that is anti-oppressive, anti-racist and anti-ableist.


Perinatal Mental Health Therapy

Perinatal Mental Health Therapy focusses on supporting all birthing and non-birthing parents and caregivers who are struggling with their mental health during the journeys in family building or choosing not to build families. Perinatal Mental Health Therapy focusses on supporting all birthing and non-birthing parents and caregivers who are struggling with their mental health during the journeys in family building or choosing not to build families.

This can includes:
- fertility
- abortion
- pregnancy and pregnancy loss (miscarriage, or medical termination)
- intersectionality (including parents with disabilities)
- reproductive trauma, birth trauma, past sexual trauma
- systemic discrimination, obstetric violence
- surrogacy journeys (gestational carriers or parents to be)
- all stages of the postpartum period - no age limitation.
- single parenting.
- adoption and fostering transitions.
- deciding not to have children.

I work with gender queer, non-binary, trans, inter-sex parents, parents with disabilities, and parents of all races and ethnicities. I practice through a trauma informed, anti-oppressive, anti-racist and anti-ableist lens. I can offer services in english and french, and can work with language interpreters when needed.

We support all parents who experience perinatal mental health struggles during their perinatal journey. We bring parents and peers together to offer support during any and all transitions. From making decisions as to whether to start a family or not, trying to conceive or adopt, through pregnancy and pregnancy loss, be it chosen or otherwise, and into the postpartum period.

Our Peer Support Groups are facilitated by a trained Peer Support Worker and all participants gain access to our Together: Waterloo Region resources and community partner offerings.

Since 2019 I have specialized in Perinatal Mental Health, supporting all birthing and non-birthing parents/caregivers in their journeys. This includes: - fertility - abortion - pregnancy and pregnancy loss (miscarriage, or medical termination) - intersectionality that might affect medical care or perinatal journeys (including radicalized parents and parents with disabilities) - reproductive trauma, birth trauma, past sexual trauma - systemic discrimination, obstetric violence - surrogacy journeys (gestational carriers or parents to be) - childlessness (chosen or not chosen). - all stages of the postpartum period. - adoption and fostering transitions.

I work with gender queer, non-binary, trans, inter-sex parents, parents with disabilities, and parents of all races and ethnicities. I practice through a trauma informed, anti-oppressive, anti-racist and anti-ableist lens. I can offer services in english and French, and can find referrals to therapists with other language offerings as needed. I am also happy to provide referrals for services in order to ensure folx find therapists they feel safe working with.
